If you are an NDIS participant and you are interested in a career in hospitality, you may be eligible for dal’s Transition to Employment Training Program. Entry to the program begins with a work experience trial during your final year of school, or if you have already left school, by negotiation. After a successful work experience trial you will be offered a place in the program and dal will work with you to develop your individualised training and support plan.
During the three-year Transition to Employment Training Program you will complete on-the-job training in dal's kitchen and café along with part-time study in Cert I & II in Work Education (Hospitality) at the Gordon TAFE before completing a final year of Work Readiness training at dal. You may also choose further training in dal programs including Life Skills Development, Health & Wellbeing, and Planter Box to Plate. These programs are designed to increase community participation, improve wellbeing and self-sufficiency, and develop transferable work skills
On completion of the Transition to Employment Training Program dal will assist you to transition into your new workplace or make a referral to a Disability Employment Service provider to find a job for you. A supported employment position at dal may be offered if there is a position available.
